Have you viewed your website on a mobile?

By in Just for you, Uncategorized

Using your mobile phone to browse the Internet is now an integral part of daily life but it is surprising how many Companies have not checked what their website looks like in mobile format. Mashable wrote this week about smart phone users preferring to read breaking news on their phones. In a survey of 300,000 mobile consumers 30% claimed that mobile is the ‘most important medium’ for accessing breaking news.  The demand for content on the move has forced news websites to produce mobile versions of their site with lower resolution images and a simplified layout.

It is not just news that is being read on mobiles though with commuters taking to their mobiles to complete their Christmas shopping this year. Tesco Direct undertook some research in preparation for launching its new mobile site.  They found that one in ten consumers would be shopping on their mobile for loved ones this year, enjoying the convenience of buying from the sofa whilst watching TV.  Out of the 4000 people that Tesco questioned 30% claimed that shopping on their mobile reduced stress, which seems an extraordinary claim to me with the small screen and slow loading driving me to despair.

With smart phones becoming more widely available due to reduced monthly tariffs and iPad subscriptions on the rise it is vital to ensure your website is compatible. Just by looking at the analytic reporting on your site you can see the number of people visiting from mobiles, will they find the information they’re after?
