Autumn times

By in Rhiannon's Diary, Uncategorized

This month has kicked off to a good start, albeit rather quickly. University term has started and if not on placement this year, I’d be buried in books and attached to a computer screen studying for my final year, so it’s quite a relief to think that I don’t have to worry about that until next year.

Although not being at university this year, I’ve still managed to pick up a bit of the old ‘fresher’s flu’, adding to the grogginess of grey autumn mornings. This does however give the excuse for layers, heaters and tea, which I’m all for.

Behind the desk this month I’ve been working on adverts, websites and some Photoshop work.

The advert portion has been getting seasonal with Sudeley Castle Cottages making a rare appearance, but looking marvelous for the holiday season-this advert required a bit of a dip into the Sudeley photo vaults for something wintery and snow covered to represent Christmas and the holidays. I’ll admit I got a bit carried away and had to remind myself that October is far too early to think about Christmas, it’s hard enough with Supermarket Christmas displays already out in all their glory and growing by the day.

Not all work has been desk based as October saw my first visit to Sudeley Castle. We were lucky with the weather and managed to take in some of the outside views of the castle before the meeting. It’s definitely on the list to visit again, camera in hand.

Out of work has been busy as well, with both out of town and local events booking up the evenings and weekends.

It was a foot stomping, thigh slapping show from Mumford and Sons in Bristol, with support from Johnny Flynn & the Sussex Wit that started off the month. They really threw their all into the show, with a crowd of all ages it was incredibly good time had by all.

Later in the week I attended some talks that were part of the Times Cheltenham Literature Festival. I’d been meaning to attend this event since I’ve lived in Cheltenham and after finally going, I would definitely suggest it to others.

I attended Derren Brown’s event, in which he talked about his new book and his various shows and performances, he’s an interesting fellow to listen to!

The second event was with Sue Townsend, this author has been one of my favorites since I was very young, following the story of Adrian Mole from the famous age of 13¾. It was fantastic to hear about the story of where the Mole series originated from and what the future holds for it.

Both events ended with a book signing which were a great surprise and a lovely way to round off the week.

That’s about it for a blog round up, it’s been pretty eventful so far in October and hopefully it’ll continue to go well.
