Monthly Update

By in Rhiannon's Diary

I’ll admit I was a tad ambitious with the weekly updates, but I will strive to not let it go this long without an update, what a quick month! Round up of the months goings on include a finished project, lots of adverts, web design, a Hat day, timekeeping and twitter takeover…Quiet month? Not so much.

The main hurdle this month was the completion of the Virtual Garden for Wildlife World, which I can now plug without worries, so head on over to www.wildlifeworld.co.uk/virtual-garden and have a gander around the garden, maybe learn a thing or two about the UK garden based creatures. This project took a while but I’m very happy with how it has turned out. I can only hope that the imagery depicts what really happens in the gardens of the UK whilst not looked upon by humans, squirrels with tea and alike…ignoring the question of where they acquire their chinaware.

The months are moving quickly and new publications are flying off the shelves, which means new updated adverts were to be completed and sent off for some of our clients. This has been made a lot easier with the introduction of a trusty storage drive for the heaps of photographs for various locations and events. I feel I have got used to the advertising methods and processes now and am a lot more confident in putting the ads together, especially as this has been a completely new venture that isn’t covered at all through the university course.

I’ve also been building on my web design skills with some well needed re-designs soon to be looked at, a visual and structural refresh. This has also got me thinking about how I need to update my own portfolio site, which will hopefully be bursting with lots of lovely placement projects by next year.

Amongst the hustle and bustle of a very busy month, we managed to find time to adorn our heads with a variety of hats. Not just normal hats, no, they ranged from a lovely little vintage blue number, to a massive feathered pirate hat. There was of course photographic evidence of this, the first I think can be found on the “Meet Sam” entry, what a great introduction to the web world.

Speaking of venturing into the web world, it seems twitter has taken over the desktops of many people. It has proved to be a useful source of inspiration and freebies for the creative community as well as self-promotion for businesses and there always seems to be a LOLCAT link thrown in for good measure.

The latest Media Eden Twitter related news is that creative director Phil has given in and joined the rest of us in the twitterverse.

Well as the attic lair gets darker (no matter how many lights are on) it is certainly into scarf weather, which personally I approve of being the owner of many a scarf. The days get shorter but the workload increases, so I don the hats and scarves and bid farewell and will hopefully deliver shorter, more frequent blog entries in the near future.
